Commonly referred to as the P.E.A.C.E. compilation,[first released in 1984 by R Radical Records, the label run by MDC frontman Dave Dictor in association with San Francisco Bay Area punk fanzine Maximumrocknroll. The "P.E.A.C.E." in the album title is an acronym for "Peace, Energy, Action, Cooperation, Evolution.” This record documents the state of Reagan-era hardcore, just before the popularity of extreme music spread into popular culture. In celebration of 40 years of Hardcore, this release has bands from around the world in what was a mammoth task. “It was so exciting to connect punks around the world. There was no internet, we had to show up and find others. These are the pioneering hardcore political punk bands that forged the way for so many growing punk scenes around the world.
